Apple fans in Singapore have waited long for this. The mobile payment service is now available to customers of five major banks in Singapore, including OCBC, Standard Chartered and DBS, which translates to the largest market share in credit and debit cards in the country.

Apple Pay allows users to register their credit cards on their iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad, and pay for goods and services by swiping their device over contactless payment terminals.

The mobile payment service is available in six countries worldwide and Singapore, being the first market in the region – outside China – was chosen partly due to “contactless acceptance” and penetration of debit and credit cards, said Apple executive, Ms. Jennifer Bailey.
